Getting started
Getting started with netclariq
netclariq is organized into spaces: each space is an independent set of accounts, transactions, budgets, debts and investments. Signing up creates your first personal space, and you just need to fill it in.
1. Create your accounts
In Accounts, add an entry for every checking, savings or cash account you want to track, along with its opening balance. The balance is recalculated automatically with every transaction you log.
2. Log transactions
From Transactions you can create income, expenses and transfers between accounts. The shortcut Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + N creates one from any screen, and Ctrl/⌘ + K searches any transaction, account or section.
- Every transaction has a date, account, category and amount
- Transfers count as neither an expense nor income
- Categorization rules assign the category for you
3. Set up your budget
In Budget you set what you expect to spend by category. You can plan the whole year on the annual grid and the month syncs automatically. From there you'll see the gap between planned and actual in real time.
4. Add debts, assets and investments
Your mortgage and loans generate their amortization schedule, assets (property, vehicles) are valued manually, and portfolios update with market prices. Everything feeds into the same net worth figure.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I have to connect my bank?
- No. netclariq never asks for banking credentials: you log transactions manually or import them.
- Can I start with just accounts?
- Yes. Every module is optional; the dashboard shows whatever you've logged so far, and the getting-started checklist guides you through the rest.
